Description

Freedom to Foil, Ride and Explore

Discover a new level of freedom on the water with the North Ranger Parawing – Lime – 2027. Designed for riders who want to harness the wind to get up on foil before switching to hands-free wave riding, the Ranger combines efficient wind power with the freedom to surf the ocean’s energy. Its single-skin canopy and ultra-short bridle system make it easy to deploy, control and pack away, allowing you to explore new foiling locations without the restrictions of a conventional wing or kite.

Whether you're chasing downwind runs, linking ocean swells or exploring sheltered harbours and lakes, the Ranger offers a versatile approach to wind-powered foiling. Use the parawing to accelerate onto foil, then stow it and enjoy an uninterrupted ride powered by the swell. If you come off foil or need another boost, simply redeploy the Ranger and get moving again.

Advanced Design for Responsive Performance

At the heart of the North Ranger is D-Rib technology, which provides diagonal structural support across the canopy. This helps distribute loads efficiently, maintain canopy stability when depowering and reduce the number of bridles needed. The result is a responsive parawing that reacts to subtle steering inputs, giving you greater control and confidence throughout your ride.

The extra-short bridle system also makes deployment and retrieval easier, helping you manage the parawing efficiently when switching between powered riding and wave-focused foiling.

For additional control, North has incorporated an innovative Depower Tab positioned within easy reach on the fluorescent yellow leading-edge bridle line. This acts as a quick-access handbrake, allowing you to release power when conditions become challenging. The tab can also be hooked onto the end of the bar to keep the parawing depowered while riding.

Easy Handling and On-Water Storage

Every detail of the Ranger is designed to make time on the water simpler. Colour-coded bridles and canopy sections provide clear visual references when launching, managing lines and retrieving the parawing. A contrasting black leading edge also makes it easier to identify the wing's orientation during flight.

When it's time to ride hands-free, the Ranger packs down into a lightweight, slimline on-water backpack. The close-fitting design is suitable for duck diving, while quick-draining construction and recycled polyester webbing straps help keep the bag practical and comfortable over a wetsuit or buoyancy vest. An additional stash pocket and external straps provide space to secure a deflated wing or another parawing.

The storage system is designed for riders who want to adapt to changing wind conditions without returning to shore. Carry a 4m Ranger in your hand, with a 3m and 5m stored in the bag, and switch sizes as the conditions or your riding style change.

One Parawing, Multiple Ways to Ride

The North Ranger opens up new possibilities for downwind foiling, particularly for riders with windsurfing, wingfoiling or kitesurfing experience who want to explore beyond traditional paddle-powered sessions.

Its versatility extends well beyond getting up on foil. The Ranger can also be used as:

  • Downwind foiling: Harness the wind to get onto foil and explore more distant runs and swell locations.
  • Wave riding: Stow the parawing and ride ocean energy without carrying a paddle or holding a wing.
  • Downwind paddle support: Use the wind to reach better bumps at the beginning or end of a paddle session.
  • Wingfoiling and paddling backup: Provide an additional wind-powered option when assistance or a change of plan is needed.
  • Point-break surfing: Take advantage of side-shore breezes to access and ride waves without relying on a jet ski.
  • Restricted launch locations: Get onto the water where there isn't enough space to set up a conventional wing, or where kite launching is prohibited.
  • Land and snow riding: Explore wind-powered freeride and freestyle on a compatible skateboard, mountainboard, skis, snowboard or ice skates.
